The Realtor Instagram Bio Makeover: A 5-Line Formula That Converts

Your bio has one job: make a stranger who just saw one good post decide to follow you. Most agent bios fail in the first line. Here's the 5-line formula, real before/afters, and the search trick most agents miss.

When a post of yours travels, strangers tap your name and give your profile about three seconds. License numbers and 'passionate about helping families' don't survive that filter. A bio that converts answers three questions instantly: who are you for, what do I get if I follow, and what should I do next?

The name field is search real estate

The name field (not your handle) is searchable. 'Jess | [City] Realtor®' shows up when locals search '[city] realtor' — 'Jess ✨' shows up for nobody. Put your market in your name field today; it's the highest-leverage two-word edit on Instagram.

The 5-line formula

  1. Who + where: '[City]'s real estate answers' or 'Helping first-time buyers win in [city].' Niche beats broad.
  2. The follow promise: what your content gives — 'Weekly market truth, no hype' / 'Homes, numbers, and neighborhoods.'
  3. Proof, humanized: '87 families moved since 2019' beats '$40M sold' for humans (keep the $ figure if you serve investors).
  4. Personality: one human line — 'Fueled by drive-thru coffee' — because people hire people.
  5. The CTA: ONE next step pointing at your link: '👇 Free buyer guide + home search' — not a link farm.

Before and after

BEFORE: 'Licensed Realtor® #01234567 · ABC Realty · Passionate about helping buyers and sellers achieve their real estate dreams! 🏡✨'

AFTER: 'Austin's honest house math 📊 · First-time buyers are my thing · 87 families moved since 2019 · Taco-fueled · 👇 Free first-buyer roadmap'

The before could be any of 40,000 agents. The after tells a specific person 'this account is for you' — and specific is what gets the follow.

Profile photo, highlights, pinned posts

  • Photo: your face, bright, shoulders-up. Logos and house clip-art read as a business card, not a person.
  • Highlights: four is plenty — Buyers, Sellers, [Neighborhood] Guide, About Me. Name them in plain words, not emoji riddles.
  • Pinned posts: your intro post, your best educational carousel, and one proof/story post. That's your homepage.
  • Link: one link to one page that captures — a guide download or home search signup, not your brokerage homepage.
